Team restructuring
The churches of the Bodmin Team Ministry work together well, both in ministerial support and in practical assistance. However, the governance systems for each of the churches are under strain. We are struggling to appoint church wardens and other officers of the Parochial Church Councils. We cannot sustain our current pattern.
The Parochial Church Councils of each of the constituent parishes have been weighing up the options for some time now. There are basically 3:
1. Dissolve the individual parishes and become absorbed by a new single ‘mega-parish’
2. Join with two or three neighbouring parishes to form a joint Parochial Church Council and share church wardens
3. Create a team council to help manage the needs of each of the 5 distinct churches
None of our options involves closing any of the churches. As a team ministry we are quite able to continue offering Sunday services. Indeed, we are becoming more ambitious for the future of each of our churches through our development of The Bodmin Way, a pilgrimage-cum-tourist route around the 5 churches.
However, we do have the challenge of managing the wide range of responsibilities associated with running our parish churches. We want to restructure ourselves so that we can each be a support to the other. For further information, please contact the team rector.
